prologue

Myths and truths, utopias and realities. Pairs of words opposite but also in a relationship of sequencing. Do myths create utopias? Is reality the spatial expression of truth? Man has always had the need to deny reality and create an imagined ideal world, the utopia. But what is it like for the utopian and the real place to live together? The landscape that is composed in the mind, of the non-existent world and the landscape that truly exists and unfolds its aspects before our eyes. A trip, a tour of Kythira attempts to answer these questions. An island where primordial myths connected it to a paradise place where love lies.

levitation & grounding

The levitation of its place and landscape, in the realm of fantasy, the idea, and the grounding of the two concepts in the real space. The tour starts from the place that has no limits and mental commitments and ends in the port of the real, against the backdrop of the landscape of the island, which seems to enjoy its blissful loneliness. Kythira has been reduced to a symbol of a place of ideal, where pure and unholy love prevails and deep infinite love, to which we march with longing, with lures, but we never reach and never reach. In the real time of today, this journey will have landed in the place/ place, after moving into the ether of the non-existent. The analysis of an ideal of overreach/transcendent experience in comparison, but also in cohabitation with terrestrial experiential experience. At the end of the journey, it is judged whether this space is eu-local or two-local, if consistent with the fabrications of our minds.

How do two opposite elements coexist? Is the phrase of Heraclitus a harmonious world that is confirmed? Utopian and real landscape in cohabitation in a place. What are the effects of this common life in the field? The answer is given from the personal route to the place. The critical approach of the questions, through a journey between levitation and grounding: as cohabitation. An explosion on the real level, where landscape symbols and landscape reality coexist.

A Venetian adage says:

Un mondo fa un mondo, e Cerigo un altro mondo All the world is a world, Chirigo is another world

Kythira is a whole world, a place of contrasts and convergences that creates an independent spatial entity seeking exploration and personal experience for its understanding. Through art, poetry and cinema, symbolism was exploited and young people were born. Common element in all editorial media is that of utopia. The acceptance or denial of the dream site. Staying in swing and abrupt grounding in the real world are results of the compilation or degradation of the ideal place. From antiquity to the Renaissance and romance, or later in Realism, the landscape was questioned or redefined, but always with the beginning of the myth of Isiodos. The myth of Venuss birth stigmatized the island. The real place was not influenced by the utopian veil, it did not wear it, but created its own course in time. With simple gestures the man-made environment joined the natural landscape with a feeling humble, with respect to all that encloses it. Myths create great expectations for the place, but the place has not embraced. He was assigned to the place, unbeknownst to him, a grandiose symbolism, primordial. other times the journey turns the place into eutopic and other to dystopian.

end of travel

The landscape passed vertically from the arts, artistic currents and symbolism, also going a journey. There is a circular route, where the starting point, the mythological point of swinging, after grounding routes, meets the terminal. It is the place that manages to maintain harmoniously the opposite elements of its composition, confirming heraklios phrase. It is the place where architectural sincerity meets the wildness of the landscape and goes hand in hand together, without one neranging the other. It is this landscape drawn from opposite symbols, from the intense color of the semper viva, to the skimgent color of the rocks, from the tall cypresses to the low phryx, from the dark blue of the sea, to the open of the fare and by its styrofoam architecture castle of the country, in the frugal white volumes. So are the feelings that are born visiting the island: antithetical, like absolute black and white. This cohabitation is harmonious, as the elements intersperse each other. The real landscape does not project its mythical elements, but silentstands under the veil of swing, without wearing it.

The rock of utopia opposite the rock of reality, in relation to conflict or in relation to complementary. The utopian veil hovering over a place, and the real place with a spatial void seeking connection.  It is the place you love or hate, the place that offers the redemption, catharsis or grief of the unfulfilled dream. The explosion of the real and the conclusion of the route, whether the vindication of the u-place or the frustration of the sad landscape occurs, is based on the personal judgment of the traveler. As different semper vives, the symbolismand mythoplasms of the place never wither: the symbolism from the swing move to the point of contact with the real place, and then restore to the u-place. Its enough for a trip. The journey to the Kythera landscape, everywhere and nowhere, comes to an end - with the line of swing that comes to touch the line of place.
