The municipality of Zografou, adjacent to the municipality of Athens, is located at the base of mt. Hymettus, showing a strong geographical morphology. The city is characterized by the student life as it hosts the two largest educational institutions in the country. Recent surveys ranked the municipality as the fifth densest area of Europe. Mobility in the municipality, is a challenge both for permanent residents and for those who commute for educational reasons. In the first part of this diploma thesis, we introduce the audience to the particular characteristics of Zografou, describing the conditions and recording the modern needs of the citizens. The proposed interventions aim to promote non-motorized traffic and its emergence as basic urban function. At the same time, guidance is given to integrate technological systems that ensure unobstructed and secure mobility within the municipality.
